JBL PROAQUATEST KH Carbonate hardness
Quick test for determining the carbonate hardness (KH) in freshwater/marine aquariums & ponds
- Simple and safe control of water values in aquaria & ponds. Determination of the optimal carbonate hardness for fresh and marine water
- Colour change test: Fill plastic cuvette with sample water, add reagent drop by drop until colour changes from blue to yellow. Number of drops=level of carbonate hardness
- Application: For new set-ups, daily for the first week, then once a week
- Scope of delivery: 1 KH rapid test, incl. one reagent and plastic cuvette. Refill reagent available separately
Healthy aquarium/healthy pond with natural conditions
The correct water values in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish stocking and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it may be polluted. If the values are poor, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium/pond. For a healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions, it is important to check and adjust the water values regularly.
For each water analysis JBL offers water tests in the form of quick tests or colour change tests. These determine a specific value or several values simultaneously. With these water tests algae problems can be detected and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc. can be determined.
Why test?
Maintaining a suitable KH value as constantly as possible is an important prerequisite for the well-being of aquarium and pond inhabitants, as well as for the thriving of aquatic plants. The carbonate hardness is one of the most important values of the water, as it keeps the pH value stable. The KH should never fall below 4 °dKH.
JBL Online Lab
Regular checks for a healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions. Enter your water values in the JBL Online Lab and have a well-founded analysis of your values carried out in seconds.
Recommended KH values:
Freshwater aquarium (community aquarium): 5-12 °dKH
Malawi Lake Tanganyika aquarium: 7-20 °dKH
Plant aquariums with few fish (aquascaping): 3-8 °dKH
Saltwater aquariums: 7-10 °dKH
Ponds: 7-10 °dKH
